Bear With Me

Group show of low-poly gummy bears

Gummy bears are used to deliver something to you: from flavor to vitamins and supplements, now even drugs. They are basically vectors, carriers. Playing off this idea I thought that perhaps they can also be a good vehicle for artistic expression.
That thought lead to
Bear with me: a group show and an invite to pause and listen to artists, as well as an opportunity for artists to connect with each other.

I designed the Low-Poly cardboard sculpture of a gummy bear that you see at the top, then produced almost fifty copies of it and gave them to artists and creatives to interpret: some painted directly on the bear, some decided to re-build it out of different materials, some did a bit of both.
All the bears were then collected at CM Curatorial, an Art Gallery in Barrio Logan, (San DIego, CA) where they were the center of three events, and were on display for almost two months.

To entertain visitors I also built an interactive piece: a very large bear painted in chalkboard paint that everybody could draw on.
