The Big Bear

some images of the fabrication process of the large bear for the "Bear with me" show.

As I mentioned when writing about the Bear With Me show, a very large bear was positioned at the center of the exhibit, ready for visitors to write on it with colored chalks.
Here you can see some images of the fabrication. When designing the bear I spent a lot of time refining the geometry and simplifying the faces so that it would be manageable to assemble by hand, however I had not initially planned to build a plywood one: much of the design relied on creating folds in the cardboard.
For the large bear instead I had to attach every single face, and given the odd angles at which everything was it was not an easy task. in this micro gallery you can see some images of the fabrication, and the end result.
The bear is made of thin (1/8") plywood, which makes it surprisingly light to move around.
